Xyron or double stick adhesive sheet

Step 1.    Stamp large kimono using Onyx Black Versafine ink once onto blue yuzen pattern and once onto pink yuzen pattern.  Heat set or let dry overnight.

Step 2.   When dry, trim around the outside of each image leaving at least 1/2" around each image. Run through a Xyron machine and attach adhesive to the back sides of the images or mount to a sheet of double-stick adhesive paper. Remove backing paper and mount each image to a sheet of text weight paper. I used black.

Step 3.    Yuzen is very delicate and this will make it much easier to handle.  Run each image through the Xyron machine again or apply another sheet of double-stick adhesive paper to the back of the text-weight paper.

Step 4.    Leave the backing paper on, and cut out each kimono cutting right through the black stamped lines. You will have a left sleeve, a right sleeve, a collar piece, a sash, and five skirt panels. Save the scraps for later.

Step 5.    I used a black marker and colored the edges of each cut out piece. Let these dry while you stamp the kimono once onto 3 1/2" x 4 1/2 " pieces of pink and blue Tairei papers. Heat set or let dry overnight so the ink doesn't smear in the next step.

Step 6.    Arrange the cut out pieces of the two kimonos so they look like the examples. Remove the backing paper from the Xyron or double stick adhesive one piece at a time and place the cut out kimono piece onto the matching stamped area of the blue and pink paper just like puzzle pieces. Start with the sash first and align all the other pieces firmly up against the previous piece before smoothing all the pieces down completely.

Step 7.    I used a gold Starforms  peel off medallion sticker in the center of each sash, and added gold Dot Sparklers for accent.

Step 8.    Mount the kimonos onto coordinating cardstock. Punch one layer using a notch punch and wrap with gold thread. Fasten thread to the back of the cardstock with tape. Mount to additional cardstock.

Step 9.    Punch 16 diamond shapes and 8 circle shapes using leftover scraps of yuzen and attach at the corners as shown in the examples.  I topped each punched out shape with Geo Shape Sparklers in circle and diamond shapes.
